For the kind of budgets he carves out for those movies, surely they are always profitable ventures for the makers, whether the movie works or not. However, things changed with Dacoit, and that’s now affecting his next, say insiders.
The producer of Dacoit herself revealed that the film cost more than ₹80 crores, but the film never appeared like one. Also, no matter how much the numbers are hyped, the film hasn’t received the same box-office reception as Sesh’s earlier movies. To carve out this movie, Sesh has kept People Media Factory’s G2, aka Goodachari 2, aside and wrapped this movie in between. With People Media also losing on back-to-back films, Sesh might have thought that doing Dacoit would boost G2’s chances. But that didn’t happen.
Coming to the creative part, the success of the Dhurandhar series has completely changed the way the Indian audience watches spy films. The flop show of Alia Bhatt’s Alpha, which has all the spy-thriller elements needed, a glamorous dose and everything, proves that the audience wouldn’t watch big-budget action films, but only films that will have realistic making. So in two ways, G2 is now facing the pressure, and we have to see how Adivi Sesh will overcome it.
