Gadar 2 Follows RRR's Footsteps, Aims for Oscars?

SS Rajamouli’s RRR featuring Ram Charan and NTR made waves by securing an Oscar for Best Original Song with "Naatu Naatu." Riding on this success the latest Bollywood blockbuster Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel is also eyeing the prestigious Oscars.

Gadar 2 has shattered records at the Indian box office amassing a staggering net collection of over Rs 470 crore within just three weeks of its release. Bolstered by its triumph director Anil Sharma is determined to navigate the application process for the Oscars a move spurred by constant appeals from people.

Sharma who helmed both Gadar films revealed that Gadar: Ek Prem Katha the predecessor did not make it to the Academy Awards. However he remains optimistic about Gadar 2s prospects citing its unique narrative as a driving factor. The first installment explored the backdrop of the 1947 partition and was praised for its novel approach. Similarly Gadar 2 is hailed for its distinctive storytelling.

While Anil Sharma expressed contentment with the adoration from audiences and their emotional connection to Gadar 2 he candidly acknowledged the desire for awards. He emphasized that even though the film hasnt been campaigned for awards he believes it deserves recognition on the global stage.
