Director Ajay Bhupathi’s career has been a bit of a roller coaster in recent times due to the kind of films he has made. A protégé of Ram Gopal Varma, he made a striking debut with RX 100, instantly grabbing attention for his raw storytelling. His second film Maha Samudram, didn’t work and earned him massive outrage. However, he bounced back with Mangalavaram, but then, Payal’s glamour became the talking point rather than the film. And now he’s coming up with another small film, Srinivasa Mangapuram. Ajay Bhupathi is currently busy with Srinivasa Mangapuram, which introduces Ghattamaneni family’s third-generation hero Jaya Krishna to Telugu cinema. The film is slated for a July release, and this project is crucial for Ajay Bhupathi to prove that he’s back to form. However, the director is said to be busy pitching Mangalavaram 2 already, such that his next film would take off even before Srinivasa Mangapuram’s momentum alters his direction.

Recently, Ajay Bhupathi narrated the sequel idea to Koratala Siva and producer Mikkilineni Sudhakar of Yuvasudha Arts, as per the buzz coming in. The discussions are said to be in advanced stages, and if everything falls into place, an official announcement could happen soon. This also aligns with Koratala Siva’s current strategy, as he wants to back multiple young directors through Yuvasudha Arts. Instead of going slow, the banner is actively lining up projects, while their second film is launched recently, the Vishwaksen starrer.
