But choosing a director who is mainly known for bold movies is something fans rarely expect.

Many leading heroes have introduced fresh talent and supported young filmmakers. But choosing a director who is mainly known for bold movies is something fans rarely expect.
Recently, Prabhas took such a risk by working with director Maruthi. Maruthi started his career by making bold and adult comedy films. Even though he later changed his style and directed family entertainers, his early image remained the same. Prabhas still trusted him with the big-budget pan-India movie The Raja Saab. However, the film failed to impress at the box office and ended up as a huge flop.
Now, another interesting topic has come into the spotlight. Did Mahesh Babu also think about working with a bold filmmaker? According to director Ajay Bhupathi, the answer is yes.
Ajay Bhupathi made his directorial debut with RX 100, a bold romantic drama that became a surprise blockbuster. Later, he directed Mangalavaaram, which also featured bold themes and gained attention for its unique storytelling. Despite Ajay's limited experience and bold filmmaking style, Mahesh Babu reportedly appreciated his talent.
In a recent interview, Ajay Bhupathi revealed that Mahesh Babu liked RX 100 very much and even discussed the film with him. Mahesh reportedly asked Ajay to narrate a story because he was interested in doing a film together.
Ajay said he narrated a story based on the great king Sri Krishnadevaraya. However, Mahesh wanted a commercial entertainer instead of a period film. At that time, Ajay did not have the kind of commercial script Mahesh was looking for. Because of that, the project never moved forward.
Looking back, this would have been a very daring decision by Mahesh Babu. It showed that he was ready to work with talented directors even if they were newcomers or known for bold films.
Mahesh has earlier worked with several new or less experienced directors during films like Bobby, Nijam, Naani, Athadu, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, and Sarkaru Vaari Paata. Around the time before Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Mahesh was searching for the right director after another project did not materialize. Eventually, Parasuram got the opportunity.
Interestingly, if Ajay Bhupathi had come up with a strong commercial script, Mahesh Babu might have acted in his film instead of Sarkaru Vaari Paata. Meanwhile, Ajay Bhupathi is now busy promoting Srinivasa Mangapuram, starring Mahesh Babu's nephew Jai Krishna Ghattamaneni, which is scheduled to release on July 31.
