‘I Didn’t Understand What It Takes To Be Star’

After 11 years of waiting, Akhil Akkineni finally scored something with “Lenin”, and that worked for him big time. Now that he has scored huge success, the actor is openly talking about his flops, especially his debut movie, which didn’t even work out at 1% at the box office.

“Sisindri and Manam led to a huge star kid launch. I didn’t understand what to deliver, and came up with the ‘Akhil’ movie, which got a huge hype and crashed sharply. In just 48 hours, the film was out of theatres, and all the hype was gone. Even if that film turned out to be a hit, I don’t know what I would have done”, says Akhil, talking about his debut film “Akhil: The Power of Jua” directed by VV Vinayak, which didn’t work at the box office.

Honestly revealing more about his thought process at that time, Akhil added, “I came with the mindset that I want to be an actor and star, but I didn’t understand what it takes to reach there. Now, after Lenin’s success after 11 years of hardships, I understand what actually is not working, and what it actually takes to become a star”.

Adding more, he said, “Every failure is public, and when it’s in public, the spotlight is so big. Even if you lock yourself in a dark room, the light falls on you, and you get suffocated”.

Well, hope Lenin gave him and his family that everlasting smile and happiness with the success Akhil deserved.
