After returning this year with the historical action film Chhaava, where he played Aurangzeb, Akshaye is now making his Telugu debut in Mahakali. Produced by RKD Studios and directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru under the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), he plays Shukracharya, the eternal guru of the Asuras. The first look has already left fans amazed with his commanding presence amidst a mythic, storm-laden landscape.
Akshaye chose Mahakali for his Telugu debut because of the strength of the story and his role. After Chhaava, he received many offers, but this character drew him in. The first look shows him as Shukracharya, standing before a massive mountain fortress with cliffs and flickering fires. His silver beard, ascetic robes, and intense gaze give him a powerful, mystical presence.
The film features a skilled technical team, including Smaran Sai on music, Suresh Ragutu handling cinematography, Sri Nagendra Tangala as production designer, and Venkat Kumar Jetty as executive producer. More than half of the shoot is complete, with post-production running alongside. As the next installment in the PVCU after the pan-India hit HanuMan, Mahakali promises a mix of mythology and action, with the release date to be announced soon.
Alongside films, Akshaye is working on the web series Legacy, marking his digital debut. Reuniting with Raveena Tandon as on-screen rivals, the series is directed by Vijay Gutte and explores the dark side of the professional world. Shot across multiple countries, it aims for a global audience. Between Mahakali, the upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar, and Legacy, Akshaye Khanna is proving that his comeback is about making a strong mark across cinema and digital platforms.
