Did Allu Aravind Miss a Jackpot Opportunity?
Along with Bollywood producer Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind announced the project with much fanfare.
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 July 2025 2:58 PM ISTAllu Aravind is one of the most successful producers in the Telugu film industry. Over the years, he has managed to stay relevant and successful by adapting to the changing trends. While many of his contemporaries have either left the industry or seen their success rates drop, Allu Aravind has continued to thrive by staying updated and evolving with time.
However, in recent years, Allu Aravind has reduced his involvement in large-budget films. Though he continues to collaborate with stars like Allu Arjun on major projects, he has been careful not to take too many risks. A few years ago, Allu Aravind made plans to produce a big-budget film that would set the industry on fire a grand project based on the epic Ramayana.
Along with Bollywood producer Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind announced the project with much fanfare. The excitement around the film was immense, and it seemed like a surefire hit that could have made waves not just in India but internationally. But things took a different turn. The movie didn’t progress as planned and over time, the project faced delays.
Finally, after several years, the Ramayana movie went into production. However, to the surprise of many, Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena were no longer involved in the project. The movie, directed by Nitish Tiwari, moved forward with several changes in the cast and crew. At one point, there were discussions about Mahesh Babu playing the role of Lord Ram, but eventually, Ranbir Kapoor was cast as the lead.
After watching the recently released show reel of Ramayana, many in the industry are speculating that Allu Aravind may have missed out on a huge opportunity. If he had stayed on board as a producer, Ramayana could have been a game-changer for Indian cinema, potentially creating a sensation similar to Baahubali at the box office. This loss is being discussed widely in Tollywood, with many feeling that Allu Aravind missed a major chance to elevate both his own career and the name of Geetha Arts.
