He had to debunk the speculation about his involvement in this syndicate that resulted in theatres bandh announcement in Andhra Pradesh.
Allu Aravind held a press conference on Sunday to clarify his role in the ongoing discussions about the theatre issues in the Telugu film industry.
He explained that the term “those four” started about 15 years ago and now refers to around ten people who are involved in theatre ownership. He said people often use this label without knowing the full story.
Aravind stated that he stopped working with that group during the COVID-19 period. He also said he does not own any theatres in Telangana, and in Andhra Pradesh, he only has 15 theatres under his management, all through Asian Cinemas. These 15 theatres are also not being renewed after their leases expire.
He asked the media not to use his name or photo in connection with that group. Speaking about the possible theatre shutdown from June 1, Aravind said he did not attend any meetings related to this issue and had asked his team not to go either. He said he was unhappy with how some decisions were made without discussing with everyone.
He also criticized the timing of the shutdown announcement, as it came close to the release of Pawan Kalyan’s new film. Aravind praised Pawan Kalyan for always helping the film industry and shared how he once suggested speaking with CM Chandrababu Naidu for support, but others ignored it.
He ended by saying that no business can run without government support and that the industry should always talk to the government when facing problems
