DJ-Duvvada, The Most Profitable Film

Yesterday marks the 9th anniversary of the release of “DJ Duvvada Jagannadham” at the Telugu box office, the first-ever collaboration of hero Allu Arjun and director Harish Shankar. The Brahmin role played by Allu Arjun in this action-comedy has clicked big time; however, Pooja Hegde’s ultra-glamorous bikini entry and others got criticised. Perhaps when the teaser of the film released, it was the most disliked teaser ever in Tollywood’s history.

After the film released in theatres on June 23, 2017, it turned out to be an instant blockbuster. Producer Dil Raju himself revealed that the film made so much profit for him and other distributors involved in the business. “For our production house, until 2017, the profits secured by DJ-Duvvada are the highest. The film is a phenomenal blockbuster,” says Raju, in an interview. Allu Arjun’s comedy timing, Pooja Hegde’s glamour treat, and songs scored by Devi Sri Prasad have worked big time in favour of the movie. In fact, this film paved the way for Allu Arjun’s stardom, and made Pooja a star actress in Telugu.

In recent times, fans are celebrating every anniversary of the film, unlike earlier, where they used to celebrate the 5th, 10th, 15th anniversary like that. Every year, fans are celebrating every film’s anniversary big time and producers are also enjoying that attention for the movies. However these types of celebrations are actually happening on social media, and that’s a good engagement for the stars, but that should be done for upcoming films as well.
