Recently, Allu Arjun requested the court to allow him to attend the hearing virtually. He informed the court that he is currently busy with a film shoot in Mumbai and sought permission to join the proceedings through video conference. However, the court rejected his request and made it clear that his personal appearance is mandatory.
The case is related to the tragic stampede that took place during the premiere show of Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4, 2024. During the incident, a 35-year-old woman lost her life, while her eight-year-old son suffered serious injuries. The stampede reportedly occurred when a large number of fans gathered at the theatre to catch a glimpse of the popular actor.
The Hyderabad police later conducted an investigation and filed a charge sheet against 23 people connected to the incident. Based on the charge sheet submitted on December 24, the court issued summons to all the accused and directed them to appear before the court on June 22.
According to the charge sheet, the theatre owner, partners, manager, lower-balcony in-charge and gatekeeper have been listed as accused numbers 1 to 10. Allu Arjun has been named as accused number 11 in the case.
Following the incident, police registered a case against Allu Arjun, members of his security team and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complaint was filed based on information provided by the deceased woman’s family.
Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, 2024, but was released the next day after receiving interim bail from the Telangana High Court. Later, he was granted regular bail.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun and the makers of Pushpa 2 extended financial assistance to the injured boy’s family. The Telangana government also announced financial support for the affected family. The upcoming court hearing is expected to be an important step in the legal proceedings related to the case.
