All Of A Sudden, Icon Grabbing Attention!

Allu Arjun and Venu Sriram were supposed to come together for Icon back in the day but this project never really took off. ICON, a film announced in 2019 with Allu Arjun as the lead, was supposed to be directed by Venu Sriram and produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The script was ready, and pre-production had also started.

It was planned as a pan-India action film. However, things changed after Venu Sriram worked on Vakeel Saab and Allu Arjun got busy with Pushpa. As Arjun’s popularity and schedule grew, he could no longer commit to ICON.

At a recent event for the movie Thammudu, Dil Raju confirmed that ICON is still on, but Allu Arjun will not be part of it anymore. He said the film will move ahead with a different hero.

Since a lot of work has already gone into the project, the team doesn’t want to drop it. Director Venu Sriram also clarified that Thammudu has no connection to ICON and the original story of ICON will be kept, with small changes made to suit the new lead actor.

In short, ICON is not shelved. The makers are actively working on reviving it with a new actor while keeping the spirit of the original story.

But now that Allu Arjun has fully owned the title, it has to be seen how Venu Sriram would work out the rest of the story and also alter the title accordingly.
