RAAKA: Is Bunny Trying Something Like Bhediya?

The Allu Arjun–Atlee project is still at the production stage, and the hero-director duo managed amazing secrecy before finally dropping a word other day, that the film is titled RAAKA. There were a lot of discussions on the film’s look, title, meaning of the title, story assumptions, Allu Arjun’s other looks and more. And that one poster has started all these discussions.

One big discussion is going on in the Bollywood circles, the moment the Raaka poster came out, many were reminded of Bhediya. The rugged, beast-like vibe, the raw tone, and the werewolf features have made social media quickly pick it up, as they say the film is going to be more like Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya only. Well, Bhediya itself reminds us of many films like Van Helsing, Wolverine and others. Some are even wondering if this is a creature or a fantasy setup for Raaka, because they feel that Allu Arjun and Atlee might not have actually revealed the genre of the film, but are just teasing the audience.

There is another side too. A still doesn’t always define the film. Sometimes it is just a mood piece. A small portion. Maybe even a dream sequence. Guess what, we have seen this trick before. Posters build hype, but film turns out different. On one hand, after Pushpa, Bunny clearly needs a shift as he should come up with bigger and better. On the other hand, going too experimental also comes with risk, especially at this scale. So we have to see what really Raaka is about in the coming days.
