As a matter of fact, the movie did amazingly in the North compared to the South. The movie got mixed talk in Telugu states but it was in the North regions that the movie got accepted from the get-go. Bunny's mannerisms, attitude and dialogues got super popular. He even bagged a National Award which made him a pan-Indian hero.
When you score a hit like 'Pushpa', any other hero would have focused on doing Hindi films or movies with Hindi directors. When Ram Charan got popular after 'Magadheera', he did 'Zanjeer' in Bollywood which turned out to be a huge failure. NTR is currently working in 'War 2' where he will share screen space with Hrithik Roshan. Ayan Mukherji is the director of this movie. Both the heroes got pan-Indian hero status after 'RRR'.
But Allu Arjun who always stays ahead of others when it comes to marketing himself is showing zero interest in getting into Bollywood. After 'Pushpa', a lot of Hindi directors approached Bunny and one of them is Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He could have made a movie with him after 'Pushpa 2' but he decided to politely refuse that offer. Apparently, Bunny feels that doing a Telugu film and impressing the North audience with it is better than doing a direct Hindi flick.
'Pushpa' is not a Bollywood film. There are no Hindi actors in it. Bunny reportedly feels that making a movie with Telugu artists and technicians and delivering a universally appreciable project is the best option. As we know, Bunny has had a strong market in Malayalam for a long time. Many asked him to do a straight Malayalam film but Bunny stuck to Telugu films and impressed everyone with Telugu content.
A lot of big actors in Telugu tried their luck in Bollywood and failed. We have seen the same thing happening to Prabhas as well. Looks like Bunny is adopting the best strategy.
