Amazon prime video is one of the leading OTT platforms in the country currently, and they have one of the most economical pricing models for any leading OTT providers around. To make it more interesting, Amazon prime has communicated that they are further reducing their annual pricing charges, but there is a catch here.

Amazon prime has started to communicate to its users that they are marginally, bringing down their membership prices in order to accommodate ads and commercials.

The latest communication from Amazon prime to their users through an email is stating that “We are writing to you today about an upcoming change to your Prime Video experience. Starting June 17th, 2025, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements. This will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time.

We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than TV channels and other streaming services. No action is required from you, and there is no change to the current price of your Prime membership.

We will also offer a new ad free add-on option for an additional 699 per year/ Rs 129 per month* that you can sign up for starting on June 17th 2025.”

Amazon prime has promised to bring out fewer ads than TV channels and other OTT platforms that are in contention. And more importantly, the OTT platform has communicated that this revenue will be used to generate more content for the audience and provide them with more stuff.
