By: Priya Chowdhary Nuthalapti | 4 Aug 2026 6:17 PM ISTAnakapalli, produced under the banners of Bhavya Sri Movie Makers and Nakkina Narratives, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on August 7. Produced by Thrinadha Rao Nakkina and Kandregula Naidu, the raw and rustic entertainer stars Vikram Sahidev, Sandhya Vasishta, and Tarak Ponnappa in lead roles. Directed by Khagesh Thammineni, the film also features Thrinadha Rao Nakkina in a key role, apart from writing the story and screenplay. Ahead of the release, the producers spoke about the making of the film, its emotional core and their future plans.
How did this collaboration begin?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: Kandregula Naidu has been involved in many social service activities in Anakapalli. He always wanted to enter the film industry, but I initially advised him against it because filmmaking is not easy. However, he was determined, and today he has successfully become a producer.
Why did you choose to make Anakapalli now?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: I had written this story years ago but never got the opportunity to make it. After becoming a director, many priorities changed. Later, we decided to produce some of my best stories under our own banners. In many ways, I have been involved in every stage of this film.
Why was the entire film shot in Anakapalli?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: Authenticity was very important for us. Since the story is set in a small town, we wanted real locations instead of artificial sets. Shooting in Anakapalli gave the film a natural feel. The title also reflects my emotional attachment to my hometown.
Kandregula Naidu: Everyone in Anakapalli supported us throughout the shoot. The police department and local people cooperated wonderfully. We filmed at nearly 75 real locations, and that has made the visuals look even more realistic.
What is the main theme of the film?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: Today's younger generation is slowly moving away from family values. Through Anakapalli, we wanted to remind audiences about the importance of relationships and emotions. Even though the film has plenty of action, family drama remains its strongest element. We wanted to entertain people while also giving them a meaningful message.
Did the film go beyond the planned budget?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: Yes, the budget increased by around ten percent because we wanted the best possible output. As a director, I know where quality matters, so we never compromised. Discussions for the OTT release are also progressing well, and we are in talks with Amazon Prime Video.
Tell us about your acting role in the film.
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: I have always enjoyed acting. The director and the team convinced me to play the father's role. The director even joked that I needed a bigger belly for the character, so I happily enjoyed biryani during the shoot. It was a fun experience. Every artist, including Indraja, Vikram, Sandhya, and Tarak Ponnappa, has delivered memorable performances.
How important is the music?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: Music composer Davzand has done an excellent job. He has given beautiful songs and a powerful background score that perfectly matches the emotions and action in the film.
There is tough competition at the box office on August 7. Are you worried?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: Competition is part of the industry. We had finalized our release date long before many other films announced theirs. We believe good content always finds its audience. We have complete confidence in Anakapalli.
Will both of you continue making films together?
Kandregula Naidu: Absolutely. Thrinadha Rao and I share a strong bond because we come from the same hometown. We plan to continue producing quality films together and will also collaborate with other banners if we find good stories.
What can audiences expect from Anakapalli?
Kandregula Naidu: Audiences can expect a complete entertainer with action, emotions, and family values. It is a film that people of all age groups can enjoy together. We strongly believe the emotional journey will connect with every family.
What about the censor response and future projects?
Thrinadha Rao Nakkina: The censor board appreciated the film and especially liked its family emotions. They felt the story should remain intact. As for the future, my film Nenu Ready is complete, and I also have a few new scripts in development. If I find a story that is even better than Dhamaka, only then will I think about making Dhamaka 2.
