Directed by Sekhar Kammula, the film created a special interest among the audiences and it introduced Raja Abel and Kamilini Mukherjee to the Telugu screen. With the tagline, Manchi Coffee Lanti Cinema, the film did wonders. As the film completes 2 decades of its release, let us relook at the best things about the film.
Anand is undoubtedly a classic and quintessential Tollywood film, released exactly 20 years ago. This movie feels like a warm cup of coffee on a beautiful monsoon morning and has incredible re-watch value. Everything from the set design, costumes, cinematography, music, props, and dialogue elevates the beautiful story it tells.
Anand serves as a love letter to young Telugu women, crafted with utmost respect, dignity, and affection. The film's story is that, After Roopa's family dies in a car accident, she starts living independently with self-esteem. Anand, a rich man, falls in love with her and moves into her neighborhood to win her over.
The characters Roopa and Anand are beautifully written. Kamalini Mukherjee portrays Roopa's trauma, relationships, friendship dynamics, and strength exceptionally well, while Raja brings the gentle and earnest Anand to life.
The music album for Anand is timeless. KM Radha Krishnan’s compositions have solidified the film as a classic, with Veturi's lyrical additions. It would have been nice if the film had a re-release.
