The usually calm town of Anantapur turned tense after remarks made by TDP MLA Daggupati Venkataprasad against Junior NTR sparked a wave of protests. Fans of the star, furious with the comments, began pouring in from different districts of Andhra Pradesh and even from neighbouring Karnataka and Bellary. They demanded nothing less than a public apology. But before the situation could get bigger, police stepped in and arrested several fans, which only added to the anger on the ground.

The fans had planned a large gathering called ‘Chalo Anantapur’, to march towards the MLA’s office. Videos of their protests and police detentions are already all over social media, spreading fast among Tarak’s fanbase. Reports say that 40 members from the Akhil Karnataka NTR Seva Samiti were picked up by the Uravakonda police.

Meanwhile, the political response has been underwhelming. The AP government seems to have brushed off the matter, with leaks suggesting Chandrababu Naidu is upset with the MLA. But fans are not convinced. They are demanding that Daggupati Venkataprasad face the media, apologize openly, and even be suspended from the party. Rumours are also swirling that TDP leader Lokesh may be backing the MLA, which has only deepened suspicion among the fans.

With tempers rising, the issue is now spreading beyond Anantapur. More fans are reaching the district from Karnataka, Bellary and even Tamil Nadu, promising to continue protests until action is taken. Police remain on high alert as the row shows no signs of calming down. For now, the battle between politics and fan power is keeping Andhra Pradesh on edge.
