Tollywood In AP: This Should Happen

Ever since the big state of Andhra Pradesh was split into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, many are wondering if Tollywood, the Telugu Film Industry, will also develop in parallel in the newly formed AP too. However, to date, there is nothing like Tollywood shifting, or another new film industry developing altogether there.

In recent times, stars like Nandamuri Balakrishna have held the muhurat event of his upcoming film there, while many film producers are doing events of movies in Vijayawada, Tirupathi and Vizag. However, these events don’t count as film-industry shifting, but just events to make fans happy. For a film industry to move there, our producers should make films there, pay their GST in Andhra Pradesh, and everything should operate from there. While setting up a studio floor, or building a post-production studio is easy, moving the money-investing producers into AP, and making them work through Amaravati or Vizag as their base is the hardest part.

As the TDP-Janasena-led Government formed in Andhra Pradesh almost 3 years ago, many are wondering why not many film producers or directors moved there yet, as both Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan have lots of connections in the Telugu film industry. Only if producers move their base there will there be some industry forming out there. At the same time, only if some talent pool is available there, producers might go there; otherwise, they have to import everyone from Hyderabad again, which will cost them heavily.
