Single Pricing For Entire AP: Whats Govt Thinking?

It is already known that the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have a different stand when it comes to permitting cinema ticket price hikes. But the latest developments are suggesting that the Andhra Pradesh government could soon enforce a new model that would regulate a single ticket pricing model for the entire state.

Andhra Pradesh is reportedly planning a single ticket pricing system for movie tickets to replace the current practice of frequent price hikes for big releases. Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh announced that the government wants a comprehensive policy to regulate ticket prices without increasing them every time a new film comes out.

The decision comes after regular audience backlash against rising costs, which has also affected footfalls in theatres. Officials and film personalities met with Durgesh to discuss the issue and agreed that a uniform pricing policy could avoid disputes between producers, exhibitors, and viewers.

Durgesh emphasized the need for fair pricing that balances the interests of the film industry with affordability for the public. Filmmaker Teja commented that frequent price increases have made movie watching expensive for many, sometimes making snacks cost as much as the ticket itself.

The proposed system aims to ensure that future pricing decisions are consistent and transparent so that audiences pay fair rates and theatres can operate sustainably without needing individual approvals for every film’s ticket charges.
