He comes up with political commentary these days, then acts in other movies, especially South films and directs Hindi films too. His recent one is “Bandar”, which features Bobby Deol as a struggling star-singer who is now accused in a sexual assault case. The film was released back in June 2026, and flopped.
Speaking about the movie now, director Anurag Kashyap stated that he never gave any interviews about “Bandar” because the final cut of the movie doesn’t belong to him. He stated that cinematically and visually, the film is pretty much what he made, but by taking out some scenes, the whole perspective of the film got changed. He blamed the corporatisation of the film industry for this, and has indirectly pointed fingers at the producers of the movie. However, the director hasn’t revealed which particular scene or sequence was removed from this.
While Anurag Kashyap is pointing out fingers at how the movie got influenced by the producers and studios regarding the final cut, he stated that creative freedom is being taken out. However, many are wondering, despite some scenes being taken out or not, the film hasn’t impressed anyone and ended up as a dud at the box office, though the trailer is impressive and Bobby Deol scored well.
