Meet the highest paid “unpaid” actor!

Bollywood director, Anurag Kashyap is one of the most enigmatic and interesting personalities in Indian cinema. Interestingly enough, he moved out of Bombay and has shifted to South Indian city, where he says he will be active in South Indian cinema from now on.

On that note, Anurag Kashyap had a very interesting comment about his acting career as he termed himself as the highest paid unpaid actor in India.

In a candid and humorous revelation, acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap referred to himself as the “highest paid unpaid actor,” shedding light on his unique and often difficult journey in the film industry.

Speaking about his transition into acting, Kashyap explained that he never intended to become an actor. His debut role in the 2016 film Akira happened out of financial necessity rather than creative choice. At that time, he was under heavy debt, and acting became a way to settle his dues.

Despite his lack of formal training as an actor, Kashyap has since appeared in several films, often playing villainous or unconventional roles. However, he emphasized that he doesn’t see himself as a professional actor and joked that he rarely gets paid for his acting gigs, hence the label “unpaid.” Yet, the impact of these roles and the visibility they bring him has been significant, which he sees as a kind of “payment” in itself.

Anurag is now looking to be more and more active in the South Indian film history, and it has to be seen if the film makers here would provide him with adequate opportunities to make it happen.
