Some journeys are already films in themselves. Virat Kohli’s rise from Delhi’s streets to cricket’s biggest stage carries enough drama and inspiration for fans, who have long wanted his life told on screen.

Yet, the idea keeps circling without ever moving forward. Recently, director Anurag Kashyap, who is coming up with the Tollywood movie 'Dacoit: A Love Story' has ended the suspense with blunt honesty. When asked if he would direct a Kohli biopic, he said no. Kashyap explained that Kohli is already celebrated like a hero, his story widely known. For him, biopics should uncover the lives of ordinary people whose struggles are still hidden. Still, Kashyap called Kohli “a miracle” praising his charm, quick emotions, and powerful personality.

The buzz about a Kohli biopic is not new. At one point, reports suggested a leading Bollywood banner was planning the film, with Ram Charan being considered for the role. The Telugu star even admitted he would love the chance, calling Kohli his favourite cricketer and a true source of inspiration.

Kohli biopic is just a rumor, but stadium-level buzz awaits someday. Meanwhile, his wife Anushka Sharma has taken a break from movies to focus on their two children, daughter Vamika, born in 2021, and son Akaay, born in 2024. She last appeared on the silver screen with the film Chakda ’Xpress, a biographical sports drama based on the life of cricketer Jhulan Goswami, though the film has not yet been released.
