Some actors chase glamour, others chase applause. Anushka Shetty has often walked a different road, one where the sword, the scars, and the silence of strong characters speak louder than words. With Ghaati, she once again enters that zone, this time as Sheelavathi, a role that demanded she break free from her comfort and step into a world both raw and untamed.

Speaking about the film, Anushka said she has always been drawn to stories that test her limits. From Arundhati to Rudramadevi and Bhagamathi, she found herself embodying women who stand as symbols of resilience. She admitted that Ghaati felt even more personal because it reflected the quiet strength of women she has seen in real life, gentle on the outside but unshakeable when it matters.

Director Krish, who shaped Ghaati, revealed that Anushka’s performance alone is powerful enough to drive the film, calling her presence “bigger than any promotion.” For Anushka, the challenge wasn’t just the intensity of the role, but the physical demand of shooting in the remote hills of Andhra and Odisha. She said the experience reminded her of a simpler world, untouched by the internet, where people lived in harmony with nature.

Now entering her 20th year in cinema, Anushka isn’t slowing down. She spoke of wanting to explore darker roles with villainous shades, while also making her Malayalam debut. For her, Ghaati is not just a film release, it’s a reminder that growth lies outside comfort, and she is still hungry to discover new sides of herself as an actor.
