By: Shanaz B Syed | 19 May 2026 12:57 PM ISTBack in the days, music legend AR Rahman is known not just for the songs he scored, but also the background score he provided to films. Many movies have turned out to be global blockbusters not just because of the story and songs, but because of the right BGM that elevated even some ordinary scenes and mediocre acting to the highest level of drama. That kind of AR Rahman is doing a film for the first time in Telugu, a straight film, which is Ram Charan’s Peddi, and those expectations will be naturally high.
Despite all the thanks from Ram Charan and his producer, Satish Kilaru, the background score by AR Rahman for the “Peddi” trailer has somehow failed to click. While some music lovers found fault with the mixing, many fans felt like the background score wasn’t up to the mark. Some videos are trending online where the Peddi trailer score is replaced with music from Dangal and Sultan, and they suit very well, suggesting that Rahman’s work isn’t appreciated. While the Oscar-winning composer is facing brickbats for that, here comes the next biggest challenge, and that’s for Ravi Basrur.
After getting to fame with KGF’s thumping background score, Ravi Basrur has scored for many Hindi and Telugu films, but those movies haven’t won that attention. Now that the first glimpse video from Jr NTR and Prashant Neel’s Dragon will be out later tonight, many are wondering what this Kannada composer might have done. Because, like the mega fanbase, even NTR’s fanbase is quite big, and they will be putting out their honest reactions quite fast on the internet.
