2 Years Jail Term for TRS MLA

Patancheru TRS MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy was sentenced to 2 years in jail and a fine of Rs 2,500 was imposed for allegedly threatening the head of an Industry and forcibly taking Rs 15 lakh cheque from him.
Sangareddy Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate D Durgaprasad on Thursday delivered the verdict. The court, however, granted permission for the legislator to appeal against the verdict in district court. Based on the appeal made by the accused, The court has postponed the implementation of the jail term for one month and the next hearing will be on January 6th, 2016.
On May 5th, 2014, A Worker of Versatile Industry in Patancheru constituency died. It was then local MLA and 70-odd followers demanded compensating for the victim's family. Two Days later, Industry's owner Pati Chandukumar lodged a complaint accusing MLA of threatening him and forcing him to sign on Rs 15 lakh cheque at BDL Bhanoor Police Station.
