The 2023 edition of the Oscars which marks the 93rd edition is an interesting awards to watch for. Seeing this from India's point of view, two films are carrying high expectations to win the prestigious award. Gujarati film Chhello Show was sent as an official entry from India and magnum opus RRR is competing in the Original Song category. Naatu Naatu song was shortlisted along with other 15 songs.

Now another film wants to try its luck in the race for the prestigious award. A south sensation film is sent for consideration for the awards. Kannada film Kantara which started as a small film and became one of the biggest Pan-India films with over Rs 400 crores is sent for nominations.

The Hombale films production banner which shot to super fame with the K.G.F franchise bankrolled Kantara. Producer Vijay Kirgandur sent the application for the Oscars and reportedly confirmed the development.

The successful producer said they are hopeful of getting shortlisted for the Oscars nominations. He said that the subject in the film is so rooted that it should reach everyone and they are hoping that the film would get to the final cut.

Actor-writer Rishab Shetty wrote the film and directed it. He also played the lead role Shiva in the sensational hit. Rishab Shetty wanted to direct the film with Powerstar Puneeth Raj Kumar. However, that did not happen and he played the lead role in the last.

Kantara talks about tribal traditions and how they face issues with the forest lands. Hero Shiva who hails from the Bhoota Kola performers' family stands with his community when efforts are made to capture the land owned by them.

The climax scene and the fight that follows made the film loved by one and all. The film was released in Kannada first and later became a Pan-India film. It earned around Rs 400 crores worldwide.

The conflict between nature and human beings is the theme of the film which is presented on the screen most appealingly. The film will also have a second part. Rishab Shetty said there will be a sequel for Kantara. However, he did not mention the tentative time.
