He is resident of Bihar capital Patna. With the desire to become an actor, He reached Mumbai and made rounds to the production houses.
Abhimanyu Singh relished Theatre is the route he has to choose for grabbing film offers. That's when he joined Makarand Deshpande Theatre Group 'Ansh'. KK Menon and Anurag Kashyap are seniors to Abhimanyu Singh in this theatre group. When Makarand asked him to sweep the floor with the boom, Abhimanya Singh was angry and wished to tell, 'I have come here for acting, not to sweep. He, however, couldn't say as the aim was to become an actor.
Makarand taught the basics of acting to Abhimanyu Singh. He, however, didn't get offers easily and had cried for several days sitting alone in his room.
One fine day, Abhimanyu Singh received a phone call from Manoj Bajpayee. That's how he got his maiden offer to play a cop in Rakesh Mehra's 'Aks'. Later, He acted in 'Lakshya', 'Dol' and 'Jannat'. But, None of these roles fetched him good recognition. 'Ghulal' was his first turning point. Films like 'Rakta Charithra' and 'Gabbar Singh' established him as villain in Telugu and Tamil Film Industries. Since then, There is no looking back and he is acting in at least 10 films in a year.
