Acclaimed Director Fails To Impress Once Again!
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Aug 2022 7:13 AM GMTAnand L Rai is regarded as one of the top directors in Bollywood. His movies like 'Tanu Weds Manu', Tanu Weds Manu Returns', 'Ranjhanaa' and others prove his brilliance. But he has been failing to create the same magic in recent times. He gave 'Zero' to Shah Rukh Khan which is considered as one of the biggest disasters in the star hero's career.
His 'Atrangi Re' which was released on Disney + Hotstar did not impress the audience. Now, he is back again with 'Raksha Bandhan'. Starring Akshay Kumar in the lead, this movie has Bhumi Pednekar playing the female lead. The trailer got a good response and the film was released on the same day as Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chadda'.
While Aamir's film turned out to be a huge disappointment, movie lovers have turned towards Akshay's film. As it turns out, Anand L Rai fails to weave his magic once again on the big screen. Many say that the film is too melodramatic and tests the patience of the audience after a certain point of time.
Askhay will be seen as Kedar who sells chat and Pani Puri. People believe that whoever eats Pani Puri in this shop ends up getting with a baby boy. His business runs very well but he has four sisters who need to get married. He has to pay a lot of dowry which becomes a huge burden and he even ignores his love interest (Bhumi Pednekar). What happens next forms the story.
The Telugu audience who watched the movie claim that it is a mixture of dowry issue from 'Rakhi' and Chiranjeevi's 'Hitler'. The advance bookings were not so encouraging to begin with and with a negative talk, we need to see how much 'Raksha Bandhan' can collect.
Bollywood star hero Akshay Kumar is going through a rough phase right now. His 'Bell Bottom' which came out last year did not perform well commercially. 'Atrangi Re' which came out on directly on Hotstar got very negative talk. His 'Bachchan Pandey' which was a remake of 'Gaddalakonda Ganesh' turned out to be a debacle at the box office despite having a star cast including him, Arshad Warsi, Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez. His last venture 'Prithviraj' came out on 3rd June amidst good hype and expectations. It turned out to be a huge disappointment. Let us see what happens with 'Raksha Bandhan' now.
