Tamil actor Vijay, has been accused of being too negative against the GST and digital India that is pioneered by BJP led NDA Goverment in India under the leadership of Narendra Modi. BJP took it to heights by projecting it as Mersal vs Modi and Vijay remained silent about the controversy while his father and fans have been reacting to it.
The actor also had to face religious comments from BJP leaders like H.Raja stating that Vijay's original name is Joseph Vijay and as he is a Christian, he is attacking Hinduism in his film. In one of the scenes in the movie, Vijay says more hospitals need to be built in India than Temples. This is said to be a religious propaganda by the BJP leaders and fans tried to retaliate in their own way by changing their names to Joseph on social media.
Vijay finally released an official statement. He did not touch the controversy but thanked all his fans for being on his side during the controversy. He also thanked them for making the movie a big success. In the end, he signed it as Joseph Vijay and fans rejoiced this. As BJP is being attacking him as a person with malicious intentions who is keeping his identity as a Christian secret for Hindu fans, this became an answer.
