Actual reason behind Mersal Controversy
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Oct 2017 8:55 AM GMTPolitical-loaded Satires on the schemes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Vijay starrer 'Mersal' stirred a controversy. Vijay's Maran Character takes a dig at Goods & Services Tax - While Singapore Govt offer free medical treatment by charging 7 percent GST, Indian Government does nothing despite levying 28 percent GST.
BJP Official Spokesperson Narayanan Tirupati condemned the satires in 'Mersal'. 'It's not true that Singapore Government offers medical service for free. 10 percent of the income has been collected from citizen for health issuance. So, Using the word 'free' is like insulting our rulers,' he said.
Vijay's Father and Senior Director SA Chandrasekhar defended the dialogues in 'Mersal'. 'What's wrong in those dialogues when BJP Leaders themselves have been criticizing GST and Note Ban?,' he asks.
Nadigar Sangam came in support of Mersal Team - 'Opposing dialogues in 'Mersel' which obtained Censor clearance is nothing but curtailing the freedom of speech'.
'Mersal' Producer Ramasamy clarified the dialogues were included in the movie with a good intention but not to find fault with Government Reforms. He offered to remove them from the movie if needed.
