He got the opportunity to star in a film directed by Aditya Chopra who made films like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi with Shah Rukh Khan and wrote Veera Zaara, Dil To Pagal Hai as well. But their film Befikre ended up as a flop.
He delivered massive successes with Sanjay Leela Bhansali like Bajirao Mastani, Ramleela and Padmavat. He even delivered a 200 crores gross film, Simmba in the direction of Rohit Shetty.
With Gully Boy he proved himself as a singer too. He came up with 83, giving tribute to Kapil Dev and legendary 1983 world cup winning Indian cricket team. While movie hot praises and his performance won critics, audiences did not show interest to watch the film in theatres.
It might become most steamed film on OTT platforms in coming days post streaming release. But theatrically Pushpa won the race like a tortoise. Movie lost 80 crores becoming the most expensive failure ever in Indian Cinema.
