Akshay Kumar has been the one Bollywood superstar to continue making films sans global pandemic. He did not stop shooting films and his Bell Bottom is the first one to start and complete shoot during peak pandemic period in the world.

His Sooryavanshi film with Rohit Shetty released for Diwali Weekend and is heading towards 180-188 Crores Nett collection post second week. This will reach 200 crores Nett gross by the end of its theatrical run predict box office experts.

Movie saw good craze and rush prior to release and could have improved on returns had it did not have to release under 50% and 75% theatre occupancy restrictions in major parts of the country.

Well, now Akshay Kumar is coming up with his biggest movie Prithviraj based on Indian King Prithviraj Chauhan's life, produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Chandrasekhar Dwivedi, on 21st January 2022.

Movie will try to capitalise on Republic Day holiday weekend. But it has major competition to face with SS Rajamouli's RRR and Prabhas's RadheShyam. North Indian audiences haven't been to theatres from April 2020 and slowly they are returning.

RRR and RadheShyam are the biggest releases in January and sans the season, there will be rush among the audiences to watch these at big screens as Rajamouli is coming with his next after 5 years post Baahubali-2 and Prabhas earned huge following.

Post Saaho, Prabhas will be releasing a film after almost 3 years and these factors will work in favour of RRR and RadheShyam in getting good initials on 7th January and 14th January, nation wide. But to sustain over three to four weeks, in case of a positive word of mouth, they will need enough screen space at multiplexes and single screens.

Release of Prithviraj on 21st and that too with Yashraj Distributors in competition, both films can forget about long run. They will jave to maximize their returns from first weekend and first week by increasing shows and screens.

In Telugu states, Prithviraj may not get screens at all as both the biggies and Bheemlanayak will struggle to share available screens within themselves. Pan-India collections for SS Rajamouli's next after Baahubali series won't be as record breaking as anticipated in any case, we have to accept this point!
