Alia Bhatt Prestigious Film Gets Selected For Berlin Film Festival

Whilst being a top heroine in Bollywood, she aimed at getting pan-Indian recognition with Rajamouli's magnum opus 'RRR'. He will be seen playing the role of Sita in this gigantic film which is releasing on 7th January. Apart from that, the motion poster of big project 'Brahmastra' featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the lead came out recently. This film is hitting the screens on 9th September 2022.
Her much-anticipated film 'Gangubai Khatiawadi' directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali is now hogging the limelight as it got selected for the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival. Alia plays the title role in this female-oriented film and the teaser won the applause of many. This film has been chosen to be screened as a part of the Berlinale Special. It is a segment of the film festival that is dedicated to showcasing exemplary cinema. The selection for this segment has been done during the pandemic.
Legendary director Sanjay Leela Bhansali is celebrating 25 years in the world of cinema and 'Gangubai Khatiawadi' is his 10th film as a director. He says, "The story of Gangubai Kathiawadi has been very close to my heart and me and my team have given it all to make this dream possible. We take pride and honour in showcasing our film at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival."
Pen Studios has bankrolled this project which was supposed to come out a lot earlier but got postponed due to the lockdown. Producer Jayantilal Gada shares his happiness by stating, "I believe in Mr. Bhansali and his craft. It gives me great joy that our film will be presented at the Berlin International Film Festival and I am proud to associate with Mr.Bhansali. Alia has given a great performance and I am thankful to Ajay Devgn too for being a part of this project. It's a story that will engage and appeal to global audiences."
This special film is going to release on 18th February 2022. Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian of the Berlin Film Festival told, "We are happy to premiere Gangubai Khatiwadi and continue the tradition of the Berlin Film Festival being a special setting for Indian movies. This time with a film that joins the usual craft in shaping camera movement and the choreography of bodies with a subject that is socially relevant, not only in India. From the very beginning we were taken by the story of Gangubai, an exceptional woman dragged into exceptional circumstances."
