The HBO network has stated that filming is about to commence on a new spinoff series that will take place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It is based on George RR Martin's Fire and Blood two-volume history book of House Targaryen. The prequel will be called 'House of the Dragon'. Martin will also act as co-creator and executive producer of the new series.
