Rs 4 crore Loss for DJ Distributor
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 July 2017 8:24 AM GMTAllu Arjun-starrer 'DJ - Duvvada Jagannadham' ended as a flop in USA. Even the promotional tour of DJ Team in US in the second weekend failed to draw crowds to the theatres.
'DJ' Overseas Rights were sold out for Rs 9 crore. By the end of 2nd Weekend, This Commercial Flick managed to cross just $1.1 million. As per the current revenue sharing model, Overall loss to 'DJ' US Distributor will be not less than Rs 4 crore.
Analysts say, Poor Reviews, Mixed Talk, Negative Campaign on Social Media and Piracy affected 'DJ' revenues in Overseas. In the domestic market, 'DJ' managed to withstand all of this negativity to some extent. The result could have been much better had if makers planned the promotional tour in the first weekend itself.
Another key factor - NRIs doesn't embrace regular commercial entertainers much. They wish to watch path-breaking films rather than routine/predictable & run of the mill projects. Time for Stylish Star to rework on his strategy to expand his Overseas market!
