Amala felt sad for cock fights

Actress turned Blue Cross activist Amala Akkineni wife of star hero Akkineni Nagarjuna has expressed her unhappiness over the cockfight in various parts of Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of Sankranthi festival. Despite the ban, cockfights were organised openly in villages in some districts, mainly in the coastal Andhra region.
Bets are expected to be placed in the range of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. It is estimated that at least 1000 Crore will be at stake for this season on the roosters.
Expressing her anger over the cock fights Amala said this social evil has been running for several years now and requested all to put a full stop to this cruelty. She felt sad that playing with the life's of cock for gambling and enjoying is against the nature and added saying that state Government is also failed to stop such cockfights
Meanwhile Crores of rupees changed hands in last two days.Powerful politicians of all hues, celebrities and businessmen participated in the betting.
