Amazon Adds Support For Four New Regional Languages
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Sept 2020 10:49 AM ISTA couple of years ago, Amazon had launched the Hindi version for its services and added millions of customers to both the Internet and e-commerce.
Now, in order to capture more new-to-e-commerce customers from the southern states, the firm has introduced four new regional languages â Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam â on its platform.
The company aims to capture the next 200-300 million online users, while also giving existing customers the ability to shop and transact online in native languages.
"We are going to add hundreds of millions of customers, both to the Internet and ecommerce as well, and we see this as an extension of taking the convenience of selection to all these customers," said Kishore Thota, director, customer experience and marketing at Amazon India.
Customers can check out the language expansion directly through their mobile devices or using a desktop. Just ahead of the festive season, the platform is trying to expand their reach as well as widen their sales by attracting new customers.
