Amazon Prime's Marquee Show Fails To Make An Impact!

It is without a doubt that Amazon Prime Video is the popular OTT platform in India when it comes to movies, series and original content. It is the most used online streaming network according to many. It is rapidly marching towards the top spot in the world which is currently occupied by Netflix. While HBO Max and Disney+Hotstar are giving tough competition to Prime Video, they decided to come up with a huge Hollywood series that will attract everyone around the globe.
They made an agreement with 'The Lord Of The Rings' writer J RR Tolkein and produced this massive series on their Amazon Studios banner. It cost them $465 million (3700 Cr) and it is the richest series to be made ever. It was widely advertised and it was released amidst massive expectations. The show clocked 25 million viewers globally within the first 24 hours for the two episodes which were made available initially. It created this huge record and everyone were happy with this.
But the content failed to impress the audience and there are a lot of negative reviews about 'The Rings Of Power' from both the audience and the critics. The show is bashed for its snail pace and lack of gripping narration. Many say that it is heading towards a disastrous result.
Another main factor for its lousy run is the timing of this show as 'Rings Of Power' arrived two weeks after the release of 'House Of Dragons' which is getting universal applause. It is the prequel to the iconic 'Game Of Thrones' show and 'Rings Of Power' is clearly falling flat in front of 'House Of Dragons' which is making things even worse. We need to wait and see if this marquee Prime Video show picks up in the next few episodes or ends up as a huge disaster.
