The trend of Writers turning into Directors has picked up in TFI since few years. It's now the turn of Veligonda Srinivas to test his luck. In his maiden flick, He preferred the hit combo of Raj Tarun-Hebah Patel for 'Andhhagadu' to gain maximum benefit. Did this successful Writer proved his mettle as a Director?
Synopsis:
Gautham (Raj Tarun), a blind man, leads his life as a Radio Jockey. He falls in love with an eye-doctor Netra (Hebah Patel) and she helps him get his vision with a surgery. The Man who's eyes were offered for Gautham turns into a ghost and haunts him to accomplish his mission. Since then, Gautham starts killing one after the other as per the directions of the Ghost. What problems he encounters because of this drastic change in his life & how he overcomes them forms the rest of the tale.
Performances:
Raj Tarun has done his best in the fun-filled scenes. He, however, appears completely misfit in the sequences where the protagonist has to perform fights and seek revenge. This Young Hero shows signs of discomfort while performing the Heroism-elevation/Serious scenes.
Hebah Patel does what she is known for yet again & there is no improvement what-so-ever in her performance. All of her expressions, body language and dialogue delivery reminds us of her previous projects. She offers Glamour Dose in songs to do justice to her casting.
Raja Ravindra don't have the stature to play a Main Antagonist. An actor of Rajendra Prasad's calibre was wasted. Shayaji Shinde and Ashish Vidyarthi does nothing special. Satya & Sudarshan tickle the funny bone. Paruchuri does a fine job.

Technicalities:
Songs composed by Sekhar Chandra are pretty ordinary. Only 'Debbaku Poye Poye' track is impressive. Loudness in his music is irritating to say the least. Camera Work by Rajasekhar is alright. Production Values are okay. Though he is an experienced writer, Veligonda Srinivas wasn't able to come up with a flawless script. Screenplay could have been lot better. 'Andhhagadu' is entertaining in bits & parts but Veligonda disappoints as a Director big time.
Analysis:
When an established Writer turns Director, Audience expect a strong story or engaging/convincing screenplay. Sadly, 'Andhhagadu' have neither of them to entertain the viewers throughout. Veligonda Srinivas choose an outdated revenge plot for his directorial debut. The biggest blunder is the casting of Raj Tarun & Raja Ravindra as the protagonist & antagonist. Twists included in the script had hardly thrilled the audience. Audience turn impatient after the final twist was revealed.
Raj Tarun acts with lot of ease in entertaining scenes. However, He wasn't able to create a good impact during the Heroism-elevation scenes.
'Andhhagadu' starts off well with the love track of Lead Pair. The film takes a serious turn after the twist in Interval. Pre-Climax Twist, Flashback & Revenge against Villain make the entire Second Half terrible.
Audience had no clue why 'Andhhagadu' has been chosen as the Title. Just alike the Title, Many scenes in the movie lacked logic and some of them appear too silly. Comedy scenes in the combination of Satya & Sudarshan were a huge relief. Rajendra Prasad as Ghost offers no thrills but irritates. Audience weren't able to digest the final twist, which is inspired from Prabhas-starrer 'Darling'. Overall, 'Andhhagadu' has nothing much to engage other than the partly entertaining First Half.
Bottom Line: Partly Entertaining - Highly Irritating!
