Andrea Demands Equal 'Star' Status
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 April 2018 11:19 AM GMTAndrea Jeremiah exploded at an event during Women's Day in Tamil Nadu. She asked producers to look at heroines as actresses and not 'objects of desire'.
She recently talked to a famous daily and she repeated the same. She said, "I am asking producers to treat even women as stars like Men. I am not just asking for me I am asking this for all the actresses."
She said that she feels women are reduced to be shown as objects of desire and she is completely against that.
"I can dance, sing, look beautiful and also act. I am asking producers and makers to identify that. A hero is seen as a star immediately after two films become hits, but actress has to still west those skimpy clothes and dance around the hero. If a film is a hit, even actress should credit and she should also be recognized. How come one person be looked at as star and others in same movie, not?", questioned Andrea.
She stated that only Nayantara is able get writer backed roles while she is still trying to find such opportunities. She said that will change only when producers and directors outlook changes towards women.
She also made it clear that she is not interested in regular heroine roles and hence, her movies are less. We hope her voice is heard.
