By: Tupaki Desk | 28 July 2022 11:27 AM GMTTalented director Anurag Kashyap is considered a torch bearer of the new age and non-mainstream cinema. He is known for giving life to many fantastic artists like Vicky Kaushal, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajkumar Rao and others. Anurag made movies like 'Paanch', 'Black Friday', 'Dev D', 'Ugly', 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' movie series, 'Bombay Velvet', 'Raman Raghav 2.0', 'Manmarziyaan' and others. He is very vocal about his opinions on social media and gets into controversy a lot of times.
During the trailer launch of his upcoming film 'Dobaaraa', he gave his opinion on why Hindi films are being outperformed by South Indian films. He said, "Because our Hindi films are not rooted, this is the simple answer. When you see Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam films, they’re rooted in their culture, whether that’s mainstream or non-mainstream culture. But our films are not rooted. Here, people who can’t speak Hindi, who speak English, are making Hindi films. Wherever the films are rooted, they work. When our mainstream filmmakers make their kind of films, they work. Gangubai Kathiawadi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 worked because the two filmmakers made the kind of films they usually make. Other filmmakers are attempting to make those films that they don’t usually, they’re trying to impress, changing genres. The moment we go rooted, our films will work."
Coming to 'Dobaaraa', it is an official adaptation of the Spanish film 'Mirage'. The movie is going to be a rollercoaster of emotions and Tapsee once again shines with her perfect acting. Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Sunir Kheterpal and Gaurav Bose, this movie is directed by Anurag Kashyap. Nihit Bhave worked on the adapted screenplay and dialogues. Sylvester Fonseca is the director of photography while Aarti Bajaj is the editor. Shor Police and Gaurav Chaterji worked on the music. The movie is releasing on 19th August.
