APs new G.O on ticket price: Big boost for RRR and Radhe Shyam, but

The government of Andhra Pradesh has passed the new G.O on cinema ticket prices in the state and this gives a new josh to Tollywood's upcoming big-ticket films like Radhe Shyam and RRR but there are a fair few ifs and buts. The cinematography minister Perni Nani has announced that the new G.O will be fully applicable for Radhe Shyam and RRR. This confirms that these two biggies will release with hiked ticket prices and additional shows.

With the new G.O coming to effect, single screens can sell the tickets at Rs 125, and Rs 150 is the maximum price for multiplexes in municipal corporations. GST can be added. The minimum and maximum price in rural areas is also increased. Rs 250 has been fixed for recliner seats in multiplexes.

The government has also added a new specification in the G.O. From now on, special ticket prices will be permitted for big budget films only if they are made on a budget of Rs 100+ crores, excluding the hero and cast remunerations. Another aspect is that 20% of the film's shoot should be done in Andhra Pradesh. Only then will the new G.O be applicable.

The government of Andhra Pradesh is clearly trying to persuade the Telugu film industry to carry out film shoots in Andhra Pradesh. It remains to be seen if Tollywood will take a cue from the same.

The good thing for RRR and Radhe Shyam is that there will be no restrictions on these two films. They will enjoy the advantage of special prices in cinema halls across Andhra Pradesh and also, they can run with 5 shows in the state. All these factors should be of great helps to RRR.

But it remains to be seen how this G.O will directly affect other pan-India biggies that are in various stages of production now. We need to wait and see how things pan out in the days to follow.
