Apex court sets up panel for sexual harassment complaints
By: Tupaki Desk | 26 Nov 2013 5:24 PM GMTThe Supreme Court Tuesday set up a 10-member committee headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai to deal with the complaints of sexual harassment within its precincts.
The panel will be called the Supreme Court Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC).
Set up by Chief Justice P.Sathasivam, the panel has six women members. Apex court's Justice Madan B.Lokur and Additional Solicitor General L. Nageswara Rao are also its members.
It has two external members - Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies director, Dr. G Mohan Gopal and HAQ:Centre for Child Rights co-director Bharti Ali. Both are nominees of Chief Justice Sathasivam.
The women members include senior advocate Indu Malhotra, advocate Bina Madhavan representing the Supreme Court Bar Association, B. Sunita Rao representing Supreme Court Advocates-on-record Association, Madhu Chauhan representing Supreme Court Clerks Association while the court's Additional Registrar Rachna Gupta, will be the member secretary.
