Are Sankranti Releases Taking The OTT Route?

With the government giving permission to reopen the theatres, many filmmakers were excited to release their films on the big screens. Many interesting films planned to arrive during the Sankranti season but it looks their plans are not going to work out.
Many hoped that the theatres would open by now but it did not happen. The theatres remained closed during Diwali festive time which is why many filmmakers are having second thoughts about releasing their films in January. If the theatres reopen in November, they hoped that it would give time for the audience to get used to the theatre experience before entertaining them with new releases during Sankranti time.
As it is not going to happen, films that were supposed to release at the time of Sankranti are now taking the OTT route. Since the digital streaming sites are offering fancy rates to the producers, they are thinking of selling their films to OTT platforms as per sources. It is to be seen what happens in the coming days.
