Producers try to use all sorts of mechanisms that they can to promote their film. They will spend as much as they can to help the movie reach many audiences.

During early days, poster publicity and after that TV publicity, now social media publicity has become the order of the day.

We see many films getting youtube records. Recently, Thala Ajith's Viswasam Motion Poster got 4.1 Million views and 394k likes in just 28 hours.

It is great to show the popularity of a star that only his first look motion poster is able to create such a trend and record.

We can say that fans are eager and anticipating a lot from the movie when we see such records. But the problem is that there are equal number of people who say these are fake.

Youtube algorithm can be altered to show bloated numbers and in few cases, people have agreed that such mechanisms are available for money.

Even if these youtube records are genuine and boosted, they don't really guarantee an opening. We see a film gathering momentum just before its release.

Like 2.0, whose advance bookings have skyrocketed but the movie teasers and trailers did not set any records like Baahubali 2 or Sarkar or Viswasam.

There are whispers that producers feel it is a positive campaigning for their films and hence, ask if they can spend money to boost the videos.

In any case, the trend seems to have caught up with many but it all leaves up with one question, are they overdoing it?
