Baahubali clears way for 'Manikarnika'!
By: Tupaki Desk | 6 May 2017 5:55 AM GMTHindi Cinema, 'Queen' Kangana Ranaut has been trying from long to set her dream project in motion. A biopic on Rani of Jhansi, Lakshmi Bai. She had discussions with several production houses, new corporates for funding and directors like Ketan Mehta to write and direct the movie for her.
But due to her over enthusiasm and ambition the project could not see the light of the day with directors and script changes. After watching 'Baahubali' and it's success, like many she and producers looked for the availability of a certain SS Rajamouli from Telugu. As he was busy with the second part, he did not show much interest for the offer. Director Krish, who already made a hindi movie, 'Gabbar is Back' with Akshay Kumar was deemed better for the project after watching his 'Gautamiputra Satkarni'.
The budget for the movie was decided at a reasonable amount for Kangana's market in the beginning but 'Baahubali2' success propelled the confidence of the producer Zee Studios and they increased the budget, as per the reports. When Krish suggested he wants to bring Vijayendra Prasad on board, even Kangana could not say 'No' and the veteran writer's success with Baahubali and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan helped him to land a big paycheck as well, as per the reports.
Recently, movie was launched with a new name, 'Manikarnika' opposed to old one, 'Rani of Jhasi' at Varanasi in a huge way. Baahubali seems to have helped our Telugu writer and director dictate terms to Hindi producers. Saaho!
