Baahubali - Where are those Rs 600 crore?
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 April 2017 7:39 AM GMT'Baahubali: The Beginning' collected a Worldwide Gross of over Rs 600 crore. Distributors and Exhibitors have seen good returns inspite of high investment. But, Producer Shobu Yarlagadda claims he hasn't earned any profit with Part 1. Why is it so?
Actually, The pre-release theatrical business of 'Baahubali: The Beginning' excluding Hindi version is about Rs 117.3 crore. Even if Hindi & Foreign Language theatricals, Satellite, Audio, Video & Digital Rights are included, Producers haven't recovered more than Rs 225 for sure. Theatrical Gross of Rs 600 crore doesn't mean Producers will pocket the entire amount. If the overall budget of 'Baahubali' franchise is Rs 450 crore, How could they earn profits with Part 1 alone? It's a simple logic - isn't?
That's the reason Shobu Yarlagadda has openly said he would be making lot of money with Part 2 because of the success of Part 1. Theatrical Business of 'Baahubali 2' Indian versions alone is anywhere around Rs 35 crore. If included the Foreign Languages, Satellite, Audio/Digital, TV Series, VR and other rights, The overall business could easily cross Rs 500 crore-mark.
