Bandi Sanjay promises UP-type population control law in Telangana

Telangana BJP president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay has made sensational comments on population control. He said that if voted to power, the BJP will bring a law to control population on the lines of the proposed legislation in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Sanjay made these comments while addressing a public meetig at Sangareddy as part of his Praja Sangrama Padayatra on Wednesday.
He said that the BJP will bring a population control bill if it came to power. The BJP believes that having one child is ideal and that the maximum limit is two people. He said that the UP Bill envisages that those who have more than three children would not be entitled to any benefit from the welfare schemes and cannot contest in the elections. He said that the TRS government was pandering to the interests of the minorities and was following the minority appeasement politics. He said that during this phase of the yatra, which will end on October 2, he would cover 550 km. He told the audience that the yatra had begun on August 28 from the famous Bhagyalakshmi temple near Charminar.
Sanjay's comments are sure to stir a hornet's nest as the bills introduced in both Assam and UP are considered quite tough. But, he said that controlling the population is very important and that population control should be implemented among all the sections of the society. Sanjay's yatra is being blamed by both the TRS and the Congress for what they call 'incitement of communal passions.' He also said that he would distribute the properties of the Nizams if he came to power in the state.
