Synopsis:
Chanchala (Anushka Shetty) was an IAS Officer. She is currently serving her jail sentence on charges of killing her fiance. CBI Officials shift Chanchala to Bhaagamathie bungalow to grill her regarding the corruption charges against the Minister for whom she worked as PA in the past. Much to their shock, They come across unusual happenings in the bungalow. Why did Chanchala kill her Soon-to-be-Husband? What's the story about Bhaagamathie Bungalow? Is the Minister really corrupt? Watch Bhaagamathie to know the answers!
Performances:
Just alike 'Arundathi' and 'Rudramadevi', 'Bhaagamathie' will be a special film in the career of Anushka. She is the major attraction in the movie. There is no other choice for essaying a power-packed character like Bhaagamathie. She is thoroughly impressive, be it her screen presence or two variations in performance.
Malayali Actor Jayaram left a mark of his own. Unni Mukundan makes his presence felt despite shorter screen time. Asha Sarath does a fine job. Murali Sharma is good as a Cop. Vidyulekha, Prabhas Seenu and Dhanraj tickle the funny bone to some extent.

Technicalities:
Music composed by SS Thaman is impressive. The only song 'Mandara Mandara' has already been topping the charts. Background Score is marvelous, especially during the Interval Bang and Second Half. Cinematographer Madhie created a different look by experimenting with lighting and themes. Half of the movie is being shot in the bungalow. Art Director and Cameraman ensured audience doesn't feel monotony with their expertise. Sound Design is worth mentioning. Production Values are rich, up to the standards of UV Creations. 'Bhaagamathie' is different from previous films of G Ashok. Different layers in the subject were presented with a different screenplay. However, Narration should have been more gripping.
Analysis:
Theatrical Trailer of 'Bhaagamathie' gave an impression that it's going to be a horror thriller. The first half of the movie lives up to what the Movie Buffs has expected. It thrills, scares and keeps the viewers guessing. Whereas, The Second Half is quite different altogether and it's against the expectations. That doesn't mean this Anushka-starrer isn't worth watching. Until a point, Audience will have the feeling of watching a special movie. Towards the end, It appears as a normal subject and audience become fools in that way.
Twists in the Climax are usually meant to thrill. Whereas, They shouldn't be to an extent of offending the viewers. 'Bhaagamathie' gives a same feeling. Neverthless, Story-Screenplay penned by G Ashok, Anushka's ferocious performance and High-Technical Standards keeps the proceedings interesting for most of the time.
There are many layers in 'Bhaagamathie'. All of these twists are unrolled one after the other in the Climax. Viewers were made to wait for over two hours to know the mystery and this leads to a bit of impatience. Back and Forth Screenplay Technique has been used to maintain the curiosity till the very end. The story moves to the Bhaagamathie Bungalow after the first 20 minutes itself. Then, We get to see something similar to what's being shown in several horror-comedies so far. Few sequences in the First Half appear repetitive. Finally, The entry of Bhaagamathie arrests the attention of the viewers. Interval Bang raises the expectations & anyone would expect a huge flashback episode in the second half. Whereas, Story takes an unexpected turn here with an interesting Twist. What was supposed to be a horror thriller ends up as a political thriller.
The past of Bhaagamathie doesn't excite and engage much. Jayaram's role as Minister and his performance is good to watch. Twists are refreshing, but they can be both plus & minus for the movie. Story & Screenplay are contrary to the expectations. Though it didn't live up to the hype, 'Bhaagamathie' has got the elements to keep you engaged!
