Mahesh Babu's experiment to make a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu, with A.R. Murugadoss, Spyder movie, might have failed at the box office. But it gave Mahesh a new market.
Normally, Telugu heroes are contend with the two Telugu states and Overseas Telugu dominated markets. Some did try to go beyond but after few films they had to stick to regular markets.
These days, mainly due to Baahubali series, Telugu movies started getting different respect in other states and actors have also realised the importance of increasing their reach.
With Spyder, Mahesh tried to reach out to Tamil audience and he got a considerable amount of reach.
We can say this because his Bharat Ane Nenu, Telugu version which did not get dubbed in Tamil, collected Rs. 4.2 crores gross in 100 theatres all around the state.
The movie collected Rs. 1.6 crores just from Chennai city. This is huge for any Telugu straight movie and this also proves that Mahesh found a considerable market in Tamil Nadu.
If he delivers an universal film that will be accepted in Tamil Nadu too, he might have a market share that Suriya, Karthi, Vikram enjoys in Telugu states soon!
